Although many people believe Pilates to be a 'new'form of fitness it has been practiced since 1926! Joseph Pilates founded the discipline in New York City with his wife Clara after training in many different forms of fitness for several years beforehand. Joesph Pilates suffered a very deprived upbringing and as such suffered with many illnesses as a child including Ricketts. It was due to his illnesses he took up a variety of fitness training which subsequently evolved into the form 'Pilates' we know today. 

Pilates truely is for everyone and can help improve general fitness and well-being as well as helping with chronic conditions such as back pain, arthritis and circulatory problems. 
The six principles of Pilates are: Centering, Concentration, Control, Breathing, Precision and Flow. Each Pilates session will embody each of these and you will leave with a sense of focus and well being.
