Dance Teacher Training
My formal dance training began when I undertook a BA Hons degree in Dance and Culture at the University of Surrey in 2001, graduating with a 2:1 in 2005. During my training placement year for my degree, I was lucky enough to gain invaluable teaching experience at two of Londons top dance institutions; Trinity Laban and English National Ballet. It was during this time that my love for teaching others was confirmed and which led to me complete my PGCE in Dance Teaching, with Distinction, from the Royal Academy of Dance in 2006.
During the next six years I ran the Dance department at one of the top sixth form colleges in the country where I built relationships with professional companies including Matthew Bourne's New Adventures and Rambert Dance Company. Many of my students went on to successfully gain places at prestigiuos Dance and Performing Arts Shcools including, The Arts Educational School in London, The Place and London Studio Centre. Many of these students are now working professionally within the Arts.
After a very happy and fulfilling time teaching at this college, I moved to St Albans and decided to persue a slightly different teaching route to accomodate my growing family life.
After being an avid Pilates 'goer' for many years, I was very keen to learn more and undertook the Body Control Pilates Matwork Course in 2012. Whilst undertaking this course I set up Adult Ballet classes in my local city of St Albans, which became very popluar. After qualifying at BCP I was soon teaching Pilates and Dance in my local community as well as Crouch End and Hemel Hempstead. Towards the end of my first year of setting up solo I fell pregnant with my first child and since his birth in 2013 I have had two nore children, so life has been quite busy!
I have natutally taken a keen interest in teaching pregnancy and post natal Pilates, undertaking the relevant qualifictaions after my first child. I have grown a wonderful community of mummies and will often see my clients, past and present in the local high street on a weekly basis! I continue to teach 'normal' matwork Pilates as well as Pregnancy and Postnatal courses and I have also undertaken courses in Pilates for runners, dancers and Cancer rehabilitation. I am always keen to broaden my knowledge and offer my classes to as many people as possible, whatever their need.
